What is Taste & Power?
Here we are the year 2008. ONly 4 years until the END OF THE UNIVERSE. And yet we find the time for writing about things of seemlingly superfluous issues… UFC Championships, Art in New York. What ARE the implications of such flagrancy of art and entertainment in a time of war?

Really. This is what this blog is about? Are we really looking into the fucking “implications” of art and entertainment in a time of war. Cuz, like that has been done.

Is this about how to end the universe, or is it gonna happen anyway? I know the answer, but I wanna see what you’ll say.
March 6, 2008 at 12:43 am
although i would *love* to be an integral part of ending the universe, i’m afraid i may have no control over the situation whatsoever, even as master of such an influential blog. that said, what was written above was simply an attempt at sarcasm, which apparently did not come off quite as clearly as i’d hoped to our favorite contributing author, maude.
btw, anyone who would like to rewrite it, please do so here. Then we’ll have like a vote to decide which one gets used official-status-stylez. or maybe I’ll just pick my favorite and y’all’ll just have to deal.
that should also go for the placeholder blog subtitle “navigating a sea of uncertainty and indecision” which i thought would be enough to prompt some kind of suggestion-giving on behalf of my team of prolific and skilled writers, or my many loyal, thoughtful, and opinionated readers in and of itself. guess i was wrong. but there. i said it.
let the great tournament begin!

okay, im a start this damn contest. this however only goes for the subtitle on the logo. i think it should say “shockingly irrelevant commentary on art & culture”
or maybe a little woody allen shout-out. “pithy yet degenerate commentary on post 9/11 art & culture”
aight guys thats my input.
March 9, 2008 at 9:03 pm
um, duh, the subtitle is 2012. if you can’t see it, you’re not part of the movement.

hmmmmm…
“taste and power” sounds like semi-privileged whitefolks who read too much. or an upscale gay men’s magazine.
blog about upscale gay men at the end of the universe?
how about, “coming of age at the end of all eras: a forum on our daily lives during the transition from ethnocentric violent international political conflict to a singular global corporate dominance made possible by the increasingly culturally homogenous network of visual cyber-communications. also, a young adult perspective on the consequential destruction of the planet as a result of this ultra civilized reality and it’s implications for our futures and the survival of living-kind.”
or, “an educated, upscale take on the thrill of dick-to-dick”
March 10, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Taste & Power: Blogs by/for/about people who have neither but are very interested in them on cyber-paper.
Or what ghetto said about dick-to-dick. There’s always room for more dick-to-dick blogs at the end of time.
March 10, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Look man, can we just leave any global social political implications out of this. I only care about contemporary culture because I hate that shit but need something to think about, and I only care about the way things effect me, my friends, or people I want to fuck.

Taste & Power – A place to masturbate; on the internet; just like all the rest. Only for our particular (and peculiar) sub-sub-sub-sub-culture self-fellation, like an onanistic ouroboros. Ah, but ever-mindful for a critical reach-around, ahead and behind. How quaint and po-mo.
May this dark corner be well-soiled in rotting stinking cum before it’s found out.

Why don’t we just talk about those guitars that are like, you know, double-guitars?
March 12, 2008 at 1:28 am
how about “people i like talk about stuff they like i.e. sandwiches and those….. double guitars”
March 13, 2008 at 4:58 pm
sandwiches are to double guitars as taste is to power. now that makes sense. i nominate oldmandub for vice-president of this blog. he brings the kind of experience and vision necessary to stay on track in the murky sea of uncertainty and indecision that lies ahead.
April 30, 2008 at 1:20 pm
I second the nomination. Done. How do you say El Vice Presidente in North Korean?

suns beneath plays in LA sometimes. we have a myspace so people can stay on top of stuff like that. also, because we don’t have pen and paper nor tack boards. so let me know what it says, too.
