Vikings to Invade North America Once More

So it turns out there’s this amazing music all about Vikings, epic battles, and Norse mythology commonly referred to as “viking metal.” It also can be called “pagan metal” and “folk metal” although some of these bands sound like they fit one of the descriptions more than the other two. Typically bands of these nature incorporate the topics mentioned above with double-bass drums, thrash speed, and Iron Maiden-esque melodies, but often also throw in traditional arrangements and instruments of folk music from these bands’ native lands which tend to be Finland or Sweden. All in all in creates perfect music to listen to while preparing for battle, swinging a mighty axe, and then drinking heavily. My personal favorite, ENSIFERUM (Latin for “sword baring”), will be touring this October in support of AMON AMARTH. Below is Ensiferum’s music video for the song “Ahti”.
